Handbook description

At this station there are cartridge overwrite devices that let you replace a random cartridge with a specific one.

Using the left-most machine will replace a passive cartridge that the player owns of the displayed type and turn it into an Empty cartridge. The machine can be used multiple times until the player no longer has any passive cartridge that doesn't match the displayed cartridge.

Using the two machines on the right will replace a random passive cartridge on the player to the displayed cartridge. If the player has any Empty cartridges, then the empty cartridges will be overwritten first, otherwise a random passive cartridge is replaced. These machines can be used any number of times.

Note that the station will never replace your action cartridge nor would it ever offer an action cartridge.
