Unrailed 2: Back on Track has five distinct biomes to play on. Each has its own attributes that make the gameplay unique. These attributes come in the form of varying terrain generation, different creatures and a final boss.

Players can choose which Biome to start in, but typically starting in Monorail Meadows is the easiest. Players are able to progress between biomes choosing to navigate to the Biome Junction Station at the cost of 10. Navigating to the Biome Junction is only possible after completing 4 levels in the current biome. Selecting the Biome Junction will begin the current Biome's boss fight, and after the player(s) defeat the boss, they can choose to navigate to the subsequent Biomes.

Monorail Meadows
Terrain
Animals
Deer
The Deer is a non-hostile animal that get in your way and eat items lying on the ground. After the Deer has eaten 5 items, it will poop out a refined resource (worth 5 of one resource). One strategy is to have the Deer purposely eat your resources to compact resources on the ground while you are doing other tasks

Ducky
The Ducky is a non-hostile animal that sits in place on a body of water. Ducky does not do anything, however, if you have a challenge to "Do not kill any animals", you need to be aware of Ducky, as placing any bridges in the water on top of the ducky will kill it.

Threats
Mole
The mole is a non-agressive animal that builds mole hills on top of item stacks lying on the ground. The mole often gets in the way while in narrow corridors, so it is best to remove the hills as needed. Keep an eye out for where mole hills spawn, because they only spawn on top of items on the ground, it is possible for the mole to form its hill on top of a large stack of tracks that you had on the ground.

A mole hill takes 5 hits with a tool to destroy (and any cartridges for your tool do not increase this), or can be instantly destroyed by using the water bucket on them. After being hit for the first time, if the mole is on the hill being hit, the mole will move to another hill on the map if one is available. The mole is only considered "killed" if you destroy the last mole hill on the level.

Boss Fight
Mole Chief
The mole Chief is a boss level who will throw Level 1 dynamite bombs at each player as you try to progress the level. A good strategy for this level is to have a few players go forward in the map and clear a path for the train while getting dynamite thrown at them. This helps to clear a path for the train faster while also collecting resources.

Cargo Canyon
Terrain
While the other biomes all have "unbreakable" terrain, in this level all terrain can be mined down. The unbreakable terrain can now be mined with tools in ? hits, so if nessecary, time can be spent clearing out one-block wide gaps to create a path for train management.

Animals
Crocodile
A fairly painless enemy. Sometimes gets in the way. Is not hostile and does not kill the player like the handbook suggests.

Threats
Sandworm
Will automatically target and follow players for a moment after they dash. If the player does not dash, the sandworm will not follow or target them. After a few seconds, the Sandworm will emerge from the ground, destroying anything in a 3x3 radius around it's target location, even the unbreakable canyon walls. Using this mechanic, you can lure the sandworm to instantly break certain walls instead of having to mine them yourself, allowing you to gain access to otherwise inaccessible areas, or to quickly create space for the train.

If the sandworm's nest is destroyed, it will no longer target dashing players.

Boss Fight
Sandworm Supervisor
In the Sandworm Supervisor boss fight, there is one safe path to the station, but if you try to walk into an area of the map that is "unsafe", the Sandworm Supervisor will appear and destroy an entire area of the map. A strategy for this map is to have players go ahead of the train trying to find out which ways are safe to travel across, and then bring bombs or clear out the resources along that safe path for the train to traverse.

In this boss fight, water sources will typically be present along the "safe" path to the station and will not get eaten by the Sandworm Supervisor. Thus, you can often 'guess' the direction of the safe path by following a route to the next available water source.

Boxcar Bayou
Terrain
Animals
Frog
The frog is a non-hostile animal that acts as a defensive turret and will shooting at spiders and webs in an area around it. If the frog is scared (by players sprinting or running near it), the frog will hop to a location 2-3 tiles away until it is not near a player. Players can 'sneak' by a frog by slowly walking by in order to prevent it from moving so they the player can pick it up. The frog will shoot at spiders and webs while it is picked up.

Threats
Spider
The spider is a hostile animal that walks around and places spiderwebs behind itself as it moves. Spiderwebs can be broken instantly with any tool, or be set on fire with the Torch cartridge. If a spiderweb is set on fire, the fire will spread to nearby spiderwebs and spiders. A Spider is alerted to any player that walks in it's web and will attack the player if they get close enough. If the player is attacked by the spider, the spider will be destroyed and the player will get stuck in a gooey cube for a few seconds which prevents their movements. The player can escape by wiggling around to get out of the goo.

Mushroom
Mushrooms are idle terrain elements that, when hit with a tool, will jump towards the player and after some delay, will explode in a 5x5 radius around the mushroom. This explosion will kill any players in the radius, as well as clear out any resources. The explosion will also trigger other mushrooms within the radius to explode, causing a chain reaction. It is recommended that players hit the mushroom with a tool and then immediately dash away to avoid being killed by the Mushroom's explosion.

Boss Fight
Spider Queen
The spider queen is Boxcar Bayou's boss fight. During this fight, a spider crawls across the top of the level and will periodically attempt to snare the players in an entanglement of webs. The players can avoid getting trapped in the spider's webs if they do not move while the spider is searching for players. If a player moves while the spider is hunting, a mass of spiderwebs will be shot out in an area around the player and the player will get trapped in goo and be unable to move. As the players get closer to the end of the level, the Spider Queen will hunt more often, so it is not a bad idea to try to finish this level as fast as possible once you come close to the end.

Island Interchange
Terrain
Animals
Crab
Crabs will turn the water into sand that can be walked over, as well as reveal stones during the high tide. This allows you to be able to get to areas without bridges and to access stone if needed.

Threats
Cloud
The cloud will seek out the tallest item stacks on the ground and actively try to push them into the water. When an item stack is pushed into the water it is lost. If the player looks at the cloud it will move away from the player, but, if the player is not looking in the direction of the cloud, it will hunt for items to push into the water.

Boss Fight
Biomes
Octoboss
The Island Interchange bossfight is the Octoboss. This boss appears in the ocean with a number of tentacles which fling water across the map. When a tentacle's projectile hits the map, it will permnently change that location into pure water. If the octoboss's tentacles are not all destroyed before the octoboss goes underwater, the map is all converted to ocean water, making the level extremely hard to traverse. However, if the tentacles are destroyed, the map is left in low-tide, allowing the players to move around the map more freely, and get access to stone.

It is recommended that players instantly get a tool and attack the octoboss's tentacles as soon as the low-tide appears. Not destroying the tentacles allows the octoboss to turn tiles into water, and create a high-tide which can starve the players of resources that might be needed to craft tracks in order to get to the end of the level.

The waste slime is a slime that lives in lava pits. If the train paths too close to one of the Waste Slime's lava pits, it will see out the train and set the closest wagon on fire, causing the players to come back to the train and deal with the problem.

The Junk Golem fires a missile at players after a brief delay. The Junk Golem's attacks are highly telegrafed, and once the golem takes out it's missile, it cannot change direction. This allows the player to quickly dodge out of the way to avoid the missile if they are close to the golem. The fired missile will penetrate through players, and so multiple players can die to a single Junk Golem missile. The junk Golem has a lot of health and, while the can be killed, they required a lot of hits to be killed.

Players seeking to beat the record may find this path to be better as it allows players to go further in easier biomes with a stronger train.

The Boiler Badlands boss fight is the Torpeboss. In the boss fight, stone is only available at the top of the map while wood is only available at the bottom in limited quantities. The Torpeboss constantly fires a barrage of missiles at the player, which the player must avoid. At certain sections of the levle, Torpeboss will also launch lava pits in front of your tracks. Most of the time, these lava pits will block the entire map. At this point, it is recommended that the players push one of the water shrines into the lava pit which will entirely remove the lava and turn the lava into walkable stone, allowing the players to continue to progress through the map. Once the players reach a certain point the boss will also fire purple homing missiles that will slowly target the player.

Biomes Map

Biomes

If you wish to visit all biomes in a single loop, you must take one of the following paths:

Path 1

Monorail Meadows, Boxcar Bayou, Cargo Canyon, Island Interchange, Boiler Badlands

This is the recommended order to traverse the biomes as the difficulty of the biomes steadily increases in this order.

Path 2

Monorail Meadows, Cargo Canyon, Boxcar Bayou, Boiler Badlands, Island Interchange

Players seeking to beat the record may find this path to be better as it allows players to go further in easier biomes with a stronger train.
