Boiler Badlands
The Boiler Badlands Biome

In the boiler badlands, there is no water. Instead, the map's is filled with lava, and the players must fill in the lava to travel safely across the map.

There are two ways to fill in a pool of lava. The player can either use the bucket against a lava tile, which will turn one lava into a traversable tile. Or, the player can push the Water Shrines directly into the lava.

Water Shrine

Waste Slime

Water shrine
A water shrine and trees.

The Water shrine is a unique structure to the Boiler Badlands Biome. Unlike other biomes where Players can fill up the bucket by standing next to water (or on bridges), in the Boiler Badlands water can only be obtained by holding the bucket while standing next to a water shrine.

Water shrines can be moved around the map by players using dashes. When dashing right next to a water shrine, the shrine will move one tile in direction of the dash. Pulling shrines is a useful mechanic during the boss fight, as players can pull the shrines out from the bottom or top of the map using this technique.

Water shrines can be pushed into a pool of lava. Doing so will turn the entire lava pool into traversable tiles. When the level has extremely large lava lakes, it is usually a good idea to push a shrine into the lava to make a large walkable area. Once a shrine is pushed into lava, the shrine is destroyed. It is possible to deplete all accessible water shrines on the map in this way, so before pushing shrines into lava, it is recommended to ensure that at least one other water shrine is still accessible.

NPCs

Waste Slime

Waste Slime

Born from waste it moves around aimlessly. Splits in two when hit. Rideable and milkable.

Waste slime is a non-hostile milkable animal. If the train paths too close to one of the Waste Slime's lava pits, it will seek out the train and set the closest wagon on fire.

Junk Golem

Junk Golem

A large creature assembled out of junk. Shoots torpedos at players.

Junk Golem has 30 hp and can fires torpedos at players periodically. Junk Golem's attacks are highly telegraphed, and once the golem takes out it's torpedo, it holds it for 1 second and will not change direction before it fires. This allows the player to quickly dodge out of the way to avoid the torpedo if they are close to the golem. Fired torpedo can pierce through players, meaning multiple players can die to a single Junk Golem torpedo. Note that torpedos fired by the Golem can only destroy 3 items.

With careful planning, players can use the Junk Golem's torpedos to mine some resources, and even kill other Junk Golems (see Achievements).

Boss Fight

Torpeboss

An ancient creature shooting lava and torpedos.

The Boiler Badlands boss fight is the Torpeboss. In the boss fight, iron is only available at the top of the map while wood is only available at the bottom, both are in limited quantities. The Torpeboss constantly fires a barrage of missiles at the players, which the player must avoid. At certain points of the level, Torpeboss will also launch lava pits in front of your tracks. Once the players reach a certain point the boss will also fire purple homing missiles that will slowly target the player. Looping is not recommended due to limited resources and that it may allow the boss to block the whole width of the map with lava completely. It is recommended to use water shrines as shields against the torpedos.
