After a random interval, random chunk pieces would ramble for 5 seconds and sink into the ground, then a different piece would emerge to fill the chunk. Each chunk has 2 pieces that alternates when the swap happens.
After a random interval, a map section will rumble for 5 seconds, after which it will 'flip' to the opposite side. A flip will not occur and can be interrupted if the player is standing on it or if connected tracks are placed on it. In addition, the section the station is on does not swap either. Other than that, nothing else would prevent a section of the map from swapping. This means that bolts, animals, commodities, bridges and other collectibles can be hidden by the flip. You may get the items back by letting the section flip back. If a tool is on a section of the map that gets flipped, the tool will re-spawn.

Terrain

In Loco Labyrinth, the map is broken up into a dozen small irregular sections where the map pieces will flip randomly. The boundaries of each section are not indicated to the players in any way visually other than when the flip begins to occur.

The best strategy is to allow portions of the map to flip if the section is mostly hard walls or water, and prevent good sections of the map with open areas from swapping out by running on them as soon as it rumbles. Additionally, If connected tracks are placed on a section of the map, that section will not flip. This can be taken advantage of by placing connected tracks into sections of the map that you don't want flipping.

Mimictree

Mimic

This monster hides among innocent trees waiting for careless travelers crossing their path.

Mimictree is an immovable hostile NPC with 8 HP. It looks like a regular tree, but you can tell it apart from regular trees by their circular top and darker green leaves. The top of the Mimictree has a dark arrow which points in the direction they will attack.

When the player walks in front of it, the Mimictree will extend its tongue to attack the player. The result depends on what the player is holding.

Player holding Result
Nothing Player loses one life.
Tool The tool will be taken away and re-spawn.
Commodities All commodities are consumed but can be retrieved by killing the Mimictree .
tracks All tracks are consumed but can be retrieved by killing the Mimictree .
Animal The animal is eaten and killed
Dynamite The dynamite will be consumed and explode inside the Mimictree , instantly killing it. Note: if you drop the dynamite beside it, it would survive).

When the Mimictree dies, it drops all items that it consumed and 1 compressed wood.

The mimic tree does not attack animals on the ground nor consume items on the ground.

Slowdown Snail

Snail

A curious kind of snail species that feeds exclusively on train tracks. Rideable and milkable.

Slowdown Snail is a non-hostile milkable animal that eats unconnected tracks on the ground. After it has consumed 6 normal tracks, 1 Brake track would be produced. Note that this is half as efficient as the Brake Track Wagon, thus, it is not recommended to let the snails eat your tracks.

Boss Fight

Mothermimic

Mothermimic

Every mimictree is a descendant of this huge specimen.

Mothermimic spawns when selected sections of the map are flipped. When this happens, the section is entirely replaced by a forest that cannot be mined using regular methods.

The boss has two ways of attacking the players.

First, it will spawn a swarm of moving mimics in the forest, which can move and attack actively and randomly. Moving mimics look similar to regular mimics but the leaves are lighter, and their HP is just 1. Since moving mimics do not chase down the player, if you are careful enough when walking pass them it is possible to ignore them entirely.

Second, the boss periodically throw bombs at the player. Thrown bombs are not dynamites like the ones created by the Dynamite Wagon but rather look similar to the bombs created by the Versus Constructor Wagon. Those bombs have a fuse time of 5 seconds and do not deal any damage to rocks and trees. However, they can kill players and mimics. By taking the thrown bomb and placing it on the boss's forest, the chunk the boss is on will be removed and flipped.

Note that not all map sections that flip can spawn a boss. However, the sections that can spawn the boss are not indicated to the players visually. If you see a section of the map has flipped but the boss did not spawn on that section, then that section will not spawn the boss on future flips.
